Jenny studied at Wolverhampton School
of Art & Design, graduating in 1996 with a degree in
Three- dimensional Design (glass with ceramics.)
After five years spent working in
galleries and further developing her own work, she
set up her business in 2001 with a loan from the
Prince’s Trust.
Originally based at Bashall Barn,
a farm shop outside Clitheroe in the Ribble Valley,
Jenny Cork Glass went from strength to strength and
a few years later moved to new premises owned by The
Poor’sland Trust at Slaidburn, in the heart of the
Forest of Bowland. In 2007 Jenny moved to her
present house on the Pennine Way in North Yorkshire,
where she creates her glass in her garden studio
overlooking woods and a stream.
“A central theme in my work has
always been mankind’s spiritual relationship with
the natural world. Glass, like the landscape,
changes with the light, and I feel very lucky to be
able to walk straight outside into such inspiring
surroundings.”
Jenny has exhibited all over the
UK from Devon to the Shetland Isles and Ireland, as
well as abroad. In 2003 she made and presented a
piece of work to HRH Prince of Wales on his visit to
the Ribble Valley, on behalf of Ribble Valley
Borough Council. Jenny was also asked to create a
glass landscape which was presented to Her Majesty
the Queen on her 2006 visit to the Forest of Bowland.
Her glassy pursuits have led her
to travel widely. She has also curated exhibitions,
most recently at the Platform Gallery, Clitheroe,
and written for the Contemporary Glass Society
newsletter. |
